Online learning continues to gain credibility among educational leaders. In 2013, 74 percent of chief academic officers in U.S. colleges and universities rated online courses as similar or superior in quality to courses delivered face-to-face and the percentage of American post-secondary students taking these courses reached an all-time high of 33.5 percent in 2013.
